Seek The Lord

2 Chronicles 7:14
14 If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
After the death of King Solomon, the Kingdom of Israel was divided into two. Ten tribes formed the Northern Kingdom of Israel, and the tribes of Judah and Benjamin formed the Southern Kingdom of Judah. As a quick summary, in the Northern Kingdom of Israel, there wasn’t a single “good” king that followed the ways of God (King Jehu the only king that wasn’t completely evil or sinful), whereas the Kings of Judah were a mix of evil and good kings.

But despite the fact that the rulers of the land were at times evil and reprehensible, God always provides a way to His blessing. The route to His blessing is to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways. In ways, these instructions are synonymous with each other, and present a progression of actions. Humble yourself by praying to God. Pray to God by seeking His face. Seek His face by turning away from your wicked ways.

The promise of God is that if we humble ourselves, pray to him, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, that He will hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land. In other words, if we truly repent of our sins (humbly, prayerfully, and intentionally) then God will bless us.
