Bearing Our Sorrows
by Jeremy Roh on March 16th, 2023
Isaiah 53:4 reveals the depth of Jesus Christ's love for humanity, as he willingly bore the sorrows and consequences of our sins. Although the Israelites initially misunderstood the reason behind his suffering, they later recognized that Jesus' sacrifice was for our sake. This powerful verse invites us to reflect on our own lives and burdens, encouraging us to surrender them to Jesus, who has already paid the price for our sins. In doing so, we can experience the freedom and peace that come from God's grace and deepen our faith in the One who selflessly carried our burdens.  Read More

As Far as the East is from the West
by Jeremy Roh on March 3rd, 2023
Psalm 103:10-13 10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;12 as far as the east is from the west,so far does he remove our transgressions from us.13 As a father shows compassion to his children,so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him...  Read More

Sackcloth, Ashes, and Sacrifice: Following Daniel's Example during Lent
by Jeremy Roh on February 17th, 2023
The season of Lent offers us a unique opportunity to draw closer to God and to deepen our faith. One of the most powerful biblical examples of repentance and fasting can be found in the book of Daniel, in a passage that is particularly relevant during the Lenten season. In Daniel 9:3-19, the prophet Daniel offers a powerful prayer of confession and repentance on behalf of his people. This passage offers us several important insights that are relevant to our observance of Lent. Firstly, it reminds us that we are all sinners in need of God's grace and forgiveness. Secondly, it emphasizes the importance of humility and submission before God. Thirdly, Daniel's fasting and use of sackcloth and ashes as signs of his repentance are powerful symbols of the self-denial and sacrifice that are an important part of the Lenten season. Finally, Daniel's prayer demonstrates the power of intercession and the importance of praying for others. During Lent, we can reflect on our own sins, acknowledge our need for God's grace, and commit ourselves to following Christ more closely. By following Daniel's example of confession, repentance, fasting, and intercession, we can deepen our faith, draw closer to God, and prepare ourselves for the celebration of Christ's resurrection.  Read More

The Power of Humility
by Jeremy Roh on February 10th, 2023
Luke 18 is a powerful reminder of the truth that all goodness and holiness come from God alone, and that we should not put our trust in worldly wealth or material possessions. The rich young ruler approached Jesus and asked what he must do to inherit eternal life, hoping to receive a task or some way of measuring his abilities. However, Jesus told him that no one can earn salvation and that only God is truly good. Jesus reminded the rich young ruler that salvation does not come from good deeds unaccompanied by the love for God and that he needed a different starting point. Instead of adding one more rule to keep or a good deed to perform, the rich young ruler needed to submit humbly to the lordship of Christ.  Read More

Jesus, Our Mediator
by Jeremy Roh on January 27th, 2023
When we read Hebrews 8:6-13, we are reminded of the incredible work that Jesus has done for us as the mediator of the new covenant. This passage tells us that the new covenant, which is established on better promises, has been made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. This means that through His death and resurrection, we now have direct access to God and can fully understand His will for our lives. But what does this mean for us in our daily lives? How can we practically apply this truth to our relationships, our work, and our decisions? In this post, we will explore these questions and discover the powerful implications of Jesus as the mediator of the new covenant.  Read More

The Incarnate Word

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was comin...  Read More

1 Corinthians 2:1-8           And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit ...  Read More
