David & Goliath
Discussion Questions
1. In the sermon, we learned that true success comes from submitting to God's
ways rather than relying on our own strength and wisdom. The story of David
and Goliath illustrates this powerfully. Can you share an experience where
you chose to trust in God's power rather than your own abilities? What
was the outcome, and how did it impact your faith?
2. The sermon challenged us to consider what we would be willing to die for, and
to live for those same things. It's a sobering thought, but one that can bring
clarity and purpose to our lives. What are the things in your life that you
would be willing to die for? How does this knowledge shape your
priorities and the way you live day-to-day?
3. We learned that being a "living sacrifice" means dying to our old selves so that
we can find true life in Christ. This is a challenging concept, but one that is at
the heart of the Gospel. What are some practical ways that you have "died
to self" in your own life? How has this surrender brought you closer to
Jesus and the abundant life He promises?
4. The sermon presented a paradoxical view of peace - that it comes not from
avoiding conflict, but from being willing to fight for what matters. We are called
to speak truth in love, even when it's difficult. Can you think of a time when
you had to lovingly speak truth to someone, even though it was hard?
How did you approach the situation, and what was the result?
5. We were reminded that walking out these paradoxical truths requires deep
faith, hope, and sacrificial love. It's not an easy path, but it is the way of Jesus.
Which of these three paradoxes (success, life, or peace) do you find most
challenging to embrace in your own life? What are some steps you can
take this week to align your heart more fully with God's heart in this area?
